What's On Cornwall Half Term

Cornwall is a great place to visit for Summer Half Term as there are lots of things to do in Cornwall. The weather will hopefully be warm and sunny and even if some rainy days creap in there are plenty of rainy day things to do in Cornwall. So come on, head for the sea and enjoy the half term holiday in Cornwall.

We have set out a list of our suggestion for the best things to do in Cornwall at half term and also a calendar of events in Cornwall over the half term holidays, so there should be lots of ideas for fun things to do in Cornwall. See the What's On Cornwall Half Term Guide below for more details.

For an exciting day out in Cornwall try Camel Creek Adventure Park with rides, animals and half term activities. Heartlands offers acres of parkland, children'sThings to do in Cornwall visit Heartlands free Cornwall attraction play and exhibitions or to bring learning to life at Cornwall's Regimental Museum. Healey's Cyder Farm has lots more than tasting Cyder to do with fun tractor rides, friendly farm animals to meet and viewing distillery. Or try The the world famous Jamaica Inn where you can enjoy the Smugglers Museum, delicious food and may even see the resident ghost! For some delicious Cornish seafood straight from Padstow Harbour The Old Ship in Padstowhave a special children's menu and family friendly accommodation.

Young explorers can enjoy Bush Craft with expert Park Rangers in the Kids Club at Haven's Perran Sands where they also have some fun sounding accommodation such as Glamping in Yurts, Geo Domes and Safari Tents.

Surfer Cornwall

Hit the surf for Summer half term and try one of the things to do in Cornwall which the area is famous for!  Surfing in Cornwall. Choose an organised lesson with a sea lifeguard trained instructor. They will kit you our with surf boards and warm wet suits and take you somewhere suitable for the conditions and your level of ability. If the half term weather is against you and you are looking for indoor things to do in Cornwall then escape inside for the day and enjoy one of Cornwall's many museums (fees apply), lots have interactive activities for children going on. Cornwall's Regimental Museum is full of Cornish history and has a re--enactment and family fun days going on. Heartlands has parkland and indoor exhibitions, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth is great particularly on rainy days in Cornwall or Healey's Cyder Farm which is a fun family day out in Cornwall on sunny or rainy days. Paradise Park Cornwall

Cornwall has many great attractions to choose from and there is a wide range of things to do in Cornwall at half term. Camel Creek Adventure Park is an excellent day out in Cornwall with thrilling rides and indoor play. For animal lovers The Seal Sanctuary, Donkey Sanctuary or Monkey Sanctuary let you see the animals up close. Or experience some of Cornwall's true smugglers history at the famous Jamaica Inn. If you are spending half term in Cornwall then you will want some excellent Cornwall accommodation and Cornwall has such a lot to choose from all with something different to offer.

Holiday Parks in Cornwall are a great place to stay with children as they usually have lots going on to keep them entertained. John Fowler Holiday Parks are located in prime places in Cornwall with parks in St Ives Bay - St Ives Holiday Village, Polperro - Killigarth Manor, Looe - Trelawne. For Bude accommodation Widemouth Bayor Darwin Escapes Sandymouth parks are both excellent holiday locations. If you don't fancy self-catering the Hotel Bristol and Legacy Hotel are both well located in Newquay which has fabulous beaches and lots of attractions or the Cliff Head Hotel near St Austell is ideally located for the Eden Project.

If you are working your way through the National Trust list of things to do before you are 11 3/4 then Cornwall is the perfect place to tick a few off. There are plenty of places to skim a stone, build a den (or better still go camping in Cornwall Henry's Campsite on the idyllic Lizard Peninsula, Wooda Farm Holiday Park near Bude or Mena Caravan and Camping Park near Bodmin Moor all look great options), fly a kite, hunt for treasure on the beach and investigate rock pools.

For a bit of half term fun you could incorporate catching a boat or ferry into your day out in Cornwall or take a boat trip to see the seals. There are lots of places in Cornwall where you can hop on a boat for a short ride across the estuary to somewhere different. Beautiful Beach Cornwall

There are lots of beautiful beaches in Cornwall and what could be a better way to spend half term than relaxing on the beach, especially if you are staying right next to one. Riviere Sands on St Ives Bay has great half term accommodation in Cornwall near the beach and good facilities or Latitude 50 have cottages near the beach in Rock, Daymer Bay, Polzeath or Port Issac, Even if the weather is cold visiting a beach is still one of the great things to do in Cornwall and it is free and you can always warm up in a tasty cafe/ bistro such as Willow at Perranporth or Offshore hidden in the dunes by the beach near Newquay. You can wrap up warm and explore the rock pools, collect interesting things washed up by the sea and turn them into art master pieces, use some energy up with a game or find a lifeguarded beach and take a dip in the sea. Explore an old harbour village like Polperro, Charlestown or Mousehole where you can pop into the Old Coastguard and enjoy the beautiful sea views over lunch, dinner or a drink. For shopping head to Truro, Penzance, St Austel or the busy town of Falmouth- here the Seaview Inn is a welcoming traditional stop off for good food and drinks. HAVE A PICNIC

There are lots of beautiful spots to choose from. Beaches or if windy head inland to a garden or park. Tanglewood Gardens is a great place to explore. There are even some great free play parks in Marazion and Penzance and i'm sure over the rest of Cornwall. Cornwall has some great local produce on offer so you can put a delicious picnic together.

The Fal River Festival is a 10 day community varied event in Cornwall based on and around the River Fal. This fantastic Cornwall festival is a not for profit community festival which encompasses over 150 events varying from music and drama, the arts and heritage to gig racing, swimming, walking and lots more. The festival was established in 2006 and will be running for its 12th year in 2017. It is a chance to embrace the places, people, history, culture, sport and industry that are connected by this very Cornish river. With its diverse mix of events taking place at dozens of locations around the Fal River, the festival offers something for everyone and is the perfect opportunity to engage with life on the river and discover some of its fascinating history. 4 day festival of folk music and entertainment in beautiful Bude on the north Cornwall coast. There is a wide and varied programme of live music events at various venues in and around the town. A great example of what's on in Cornwall for those who love live music events. Now in its 11th year the Bude & Stratton Folk Festival features music, song, dance, and storytelling, and there is a small programme of children's events. The programme is published in April. The guest list includes Ange Hardy, Lukas Drinkwater, Jim Causley, Si Barron, Reg Meuross, Geoff Lakeman, Sam Kelly Trio, The Dambuskers, Thorn and Roses, Hamish Currie, Moe Keast. There is also a Beer Fest at the Falcon Hotel. Season tickets for this North Cornwall event cost £50, early bookers and students get reduced prices, children are free.

Open Village Day at Ludgvan near Penzance supporting Children's Hospice South West, Little Harbour and other small local charities. Over 10 gardens will be open to the public, including Hogus House. Plus Plant Sales, exhibitions in the Church. St Ives Orchestra will play outside the Church, Children's Treasure Hunt and a variety of stalls run by local organisations (20 per cent of all sales on the day will go to the charities). Look out for the 'Yarn Bombing' of one of the main houses in the village, by a group of local knitters! A great variety of refreshments will be on offer throughout the day, including lunches at the White Hart, fresh fish BBQ, chilli dogs, teas, home-made cakes and, of course, ice creams. Whats on for foodies this weekend in Cornwall. Pendeen Farmers Market brings together local producers in West Cornwall who provide affordable food from producers who care. This is a twice monthly indoor market run by volunteers and offers quality fresh, seasonal food on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10am to 1pm. Parking is easy and free and the local buses stop near by. In the summer the famous open top bus (Explorer 300) stops in Pendeen. You can hop off, shop and then hop on the next bus. Easy!
