Cape Cornwall Art and Crafts exhibition is a fantastic exhibition which is held at Cape Cornwall School in St Just. The Cape Cornwall Art and Crafts Exhibition, St Just Cornwall, is held in aid of Cancer Research and is usually held for just under 3 weeks in August starting on the first Wednesday in August. This year it will be held between Wednesday 1st August 2012 and Friday 17th August 2012 from 10.00am - 9pm (7pm on the final day). The preview evening will be held on Tuesday 31st July 2012 and everyone is welcome to this - be the first to see the amazing display of art and crafts which is put on. Tickets to the preview evening are £3.50 to include a glass of wine or orange juice and nibbles - which are being hand prepared by a chef at the school and should be delicious.
Last year the event raised an impressive donation of £26,000. There is a reasonable entry fee of £1.00 for adults and 50p for children in aid of Cancer Research, refreshments and free parking (more free parking is also available in the centre of St Just.)
The Cape Cornwall Art and Crafts Exhibition is made up of two large rooms (3 rooms in 2011 and hopefully again next year) filled with tables full of local Cornish Crafts, there is a hugh variety of art and crafts for sale with a percentage of all sales going towards Cancer Research, in addition to a submission fee paid by all exhibitors. The variety of products is hugh and includes oil paintings, ceramics, jewellery - beads and silver, wood craft including beautiful turned pieces and carvings, photographs, and a variety of other items including some beautiful handmade rugs.
There are also cloth items such as scarves and children's clothes. One of my favourites is the handbags made from old pantomime costumes.
This St Just Art and Craft Exhibition is definitely worth a visit! You could even start shopping for Christmas early!
